Family baby shower

My family hosted a baby shower for me last weekend and it was a very lovely event. My sister even had special M&Ms made up as party favors. My sister-in-law brought a navy blue pram that she is lending me and I am very excited to fulfill my Mary Poppins's fantasies of pushing the baby around the park in a pram. I received some great gifts and we were happy to be able to fit them all in the baby's room when we got home.

First baby gifts

Our first baby gifts arrived last week (right after we had finally finished unpacking from our move).


Jesse and Othello try to figure out the car seat (a terribly written manual doesn't help).


The other thing that arrived last week? My insomnia! It is very common in the last trimester, but not so fun. Should be good practice for the baby's arrival.

Rainbows

Eileen's office hosted a Hudson River sail this week. Unfortunately, it started raining and lightning about ten minutes into the sail and didn't stop the entire time. But there was a pot of gold at the end of our trip, when two amazing double rainbows appeared over the city.

Family vacation in Wellfleet

Rather than venture too far afield, we took a family vacation to Wellfleet. Initially the weather didn't cooperate, but we went on walks in the National Seashore,

visited Provincetown,

and cooked (including bagels, fried chicken, and roasted lemonade).

When the weather improved we packed in activities, including the beach, the bike trail, oysters at the Beachcomber, and a bonfire.

It's been two years since we were married and we again had a few friends to Wellfleet to celebrate.
