Cincinnati

We spent the long holiday weekend in Cincinnati. It was a lot of eating and relaxing. But we did do a few active things - a walk in Spring Grove Cemetary, a National Historic Landmark...

... and Jesse tossed a football with his brothers.

Plus we carried lots of presents back to NY!

Happy Hanukkah

After a hectic week, we finally got a chance to make potato pancakes and celebrate Hanukkah in style. (We didn't get a good shot of the menorah, so here's a picture of Othello with the Swedish angels instead.) Tomorrow we are heading to Ohio for the holidays. Hope the Colorado snow doesn't move east too quickly!

F A F V F D F

Trains held at the station, earlier incidents, disabled trains ahead. It took 7 trains (instead of 1) to my morning commute. Nice work, MTA!

Oh, Christmas tree

We set up our little Christmas tree last weekend, and so far, it is still standing. This was the first time that the kittens had seen a tree (we didn't get one last year), and we were sure they would be climbing up it in no time. Instead, they seem content to hang out under the tree and bat at the ornaments.

Farewell, my car

We sold our little car on Saturday. It was hard to resist the urge to yell "Suckers!" as we left the dealer, but they were so nice that we refrained (plus, we didn't want them to change their minds). The car had a lot of problems, and a lot of bad luck (like getting hit by a baseball at one of Jesse's games), but it did get us safely across the country twice. Here it is on one of its happiest days visiting beautiful Crater Lake.

On December 1, we were very excited to hang up the incredible advent calendar that Lauren made for Eileen. The calendar has an amazing array of creatures, including sheep, a cow, and camels, along with the usual Christmas cast of characters. We love this calendar so much that we took it with us on our cross-country trip, not trusting the movers with it.

We cemented the beginning of the holiday season with a walk around Prospect Park to see the light displays at the main entrance. New York really can't be beat for holiday decorations.
