Eileen's mom visits

Eileen's mom came to visit this week, and we had a great time doing some last-minute Bay Area activities before we move away. (Eileen also chopped all her hair off in a classic post-wedding move. Jesse loves it, but she isn't so sure.)

On our first day, we had the ultimate foodie experience in Berkeley. We took a tour of the Scharffen Berger chocolate factory, which luckily included tasting many chocolates, followed by dinner at Chez Panisse.

The next day, we headed to Golden Gate Park to visit the lovely Conservatory of Flowers on a unusually sunny and warm summer day (the park is often foggy in the summer).

After checking out the new de Young museum (which is in a very cool building), we went to the Japanese Tea Garden.

Then we headed home for one of Jesse's yummy home-cooked meals: heirloom tomatoes, corn, little pizzas, and a fruit crisp--all using produce from the farmer's market. We will certainly miss California's amazing fruits and veggies!
